Welcome to La Romana

La Romana owes its beginnings to the natural harbour on its coast. Located some 100 kilometres from Santo Domingo, it is one of the most important tourist centres of the country. Los Altos de Chavón are also found in this province, another tourist attraction of the area.

La Romana was a thriving sugar port until the 70s and today boasts some of the most beautiful beaches of the Dominican east coast. It is an internationally renowned coastal city which lives on luxury tourism, despite being one of the youngest towns in the country.

For nature lovers, La Romana has a spectacular diving and fishing area and here you can also explore the Chavón River by boat.
Bayahibe, in the La Romana area, is a rural fishing community. It's a place where native flora, a white sandy beach, fishing, the local population and modern hospitality all come together.
